Privacy policy

Last updated 5 October 2026

From First Touch to First Team is a podcast and website run by Jan Schmidt in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. This page explains what personal information we handle and why. We keep it to the minimum, and we will update this page before we start collecting anything new, such as a newsletter or an online shop.

What we collect

  • Messages you send us. If you email [email protected], we receive your email address and whatever you tell us. We use it to reply, and we keep it only as long as needed for that conversation.
  • Visit statistics. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count visits and see which pages are read. It does not use cookies, does not track you across websites and does not build a profile of you.
  • Questions you send us. If you send a question for a future guest, we receive the question, and the first name and email address only if you choose to give them. Approved questions are shown on the website without your name or email. We use Cloudflare Turnstile to check that submissions come from a person rather than a machine, and a one-way scrambled form of your IP address so the same person cannot add props to one question twice. The address itself is not stored.
  • Videos. Episode videos are played through YouTube. We load the YouTube player in its privacy-enhanced mode, and YouTube may receive information such as your IP address once the player loads. See Google’s privacy policy for how it handles this.

The website has no accounts, no advertising trackers and no social media tracking pixels.

Who else handles information

The site is hosted by Cloudflare, which processes technical data such as IP addresses to deliver and protect the website. Email is handled by Zoho Mail, so messages you send us are stored on their servers. Links to Spotify, Apple Podcasts, YouTube, Instagram and other sites lead to services with their own privacy policies. We do not sell or share personal information.

Children and young players

The podcast is made for young players, parents and coaches, but this website is not designed to collect personal information from children. If you are under 16, please ask a parent or carer to contact us for you. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, email us and we will delete it.

Your choices

You can ask us to tell you what information we hold about you, to correct it or to delete it. Email [email protected] and we will respond within a reasonable time. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.

Changes

We will post any changes on this page and update the date at the top.
